A bow brooch with bone cladding and Etruscan inscription, 7th century B.C.
Wire-shaped bow brooch with coiled pin at top and flat hammered, U-shaped, folded catch-plate at bottom. The entire bow encased by graduated bone "scales", swelling towards the middle. At back a central field with Etruscan inscription. Excellently preserved brooch with extremely rare features (casing, inscription). Intact. Length 9.7 cm.
Provenance: South German private collection, inherited from an old family estate.
