Two Tibetan prayer wheels, 19th/20th century
Copper, partially silver-plated, wooden handle. Rotating prayer drum. Almost cylindrical body with applied characters (prayers) and profiled rings. Finished with an onion-shaped handle. Each side with an attached swing weight on a chain. Wooden handles with copper mountings. One mill with attached chain. Signs of use, small defects. Length 29 and 30 cm respectively. With a tightly wound strip of paper on which prayers are printed in Tibetan script. This roll is inserted into the mill, the mill is turned by the swing weight and thus prays automatically. Prayer wheels are intended to combine physical activity and spiritual content.
