Oil on canvas. Finely painted depiction of an angel dressed in opulent, colorful robes splendidly decorated with golden textured paste, holding a rifle in his right hand. Unframed, without stretcher. Dimensions approx. 65 x 44 cm.
The Cusco School emerged in Latin America under the influence of European Mannerism after the conquest of Peru by Spain. The warrior angels were one of the most popular motifs, whereby the painters' concentration on clothing decoration is considered a general characteristic of the art of the Cusco School.
