A bronze spinning top player, Louchet Ciseleur Paris, 1920s
Cast bronze and patinated figure of a boy. Bending low to the side, he searches for his spinning top in his outstretched trouser pocket. On a square base decorated with spinning tops between curved tendrils. Stamped "Paris Louchet Ciseleur" and signed "T. Coujon" on the reverse. Height 19 cm.
Paul Louchet (1854 - 1936) was a French painter, sculptor and bronze caster, president of the Chambre Syndicale des fabricants de bronze, mayor of the town of Heblay and friend of René Lalique. He was the founder of Lauchet Ciseleur, known for its Art Nouveau bronze objects.
