A memento mori bozzetto, probably German, late 18th/19th century
Clay model of a vanitas arrangement. An old skull on open books, surrounded by dried fruit, coins, a wheel and a walnut. On the right, a snake is wrapped around the bone. Mounted on a wooden panel. Bumped in places, cracks, small losses. Dimensions 22 x 35 cm.
