Two German/English coin scales and a scarifier, 18th century
Each a fine beam scale with weights in a wooden case. One example made of cut iron, made by the luthier J. P. Äckersberg (from Oberbarmen) in 1784 (see master's label), adjusted with various weights of some European gold coins (ducats, Spanish pistole, livre etc.). The second example is a (probably English) apothecary scale in a mahogany case (small oxide overlays on hinges) with twelve fine weights. With a pair of fine brass tourniquets with cut iron decoration. In the original brocade-embroidered and gold-stamped leather case. Dimensions of the boxes 5 x 9 cm to 9 x 18 cm.
