A large calabash and a lidded bowl, probably Ethiopian
Large wooden jug with a hollow, woven base for carrying on the head. Painted all over and decorated with brass figures and cowrie scrolls. The stopper crowned with a seated male figure, the lower part with a casting flaw. Height approx. 56 cm. Comes with a deep wooden bowl for hanging on braided leather straps decorated with cowrie snails and glass beads. A small chip to the inner lip of the lid. Diameter approx. 20 cm, height w.D. approx. 28 cm.
