24 pieces of silver-gilt cutlery and a plated sugar basin with spoon, Birmingham, circa 1850
Twelve forks and twelve knives made of gilded silver (blades not silver). The handles decorated with rocailles in relief, the blades with finely engraved floral decoration. Handles hallmarked with silver standard, city mark. Blades illegibly hallmarked. Length 18.5 and 22.3 cm respectively, forks weighing 467 g. In an unattached wooden box. Comes with a silver- and gold-plated sugar bowl with spoon. Stamped with "EP", company mark "JD&S" and no. "1306". Height 8 x 9.5 x 6.5 cm, length of spoon 9 cm.
