An Austrian silver vesta case with tinder (matchbox), Vienna, Georg Adam Scheid, circa 1885
Silver, gilded inside. Engraved alliance coat of arms on the hinged lid. Sliding compartment inside for the wick. Hallmarked with hallmark (dog), master's mark "G.A.S." (1882 - ca. 1885), German repoussé crescent moon, crown and "800" as well as jeweler's mark "A BACHRUCH KK HOFJUWELIER". Normal signs of wear. Measures 1.3 x 5.6 x 2.8 cm, weight 42.8 g.
