A German pewter guild cup, dated 1686
A pewter guild cup on a round and stepped foot. The dedication inscription framed by bruised decorative bands reads as follows: "What fire has consumed, a bad gift replaces / To the lost, and given memory / What otherwise lost by fire / Replace God's mild hand / Gottfried Heintze". The foot with three illegible marks. A small crack on both the jointed shaft and the base, a dent under the inscription. Strong dark patina. Height 20 cm.
