Two Chinese jian, 19th and 20th century
A jian with a straight, ridged blade and typical seven-star decoration, heavy cast hand guard, bronze pommel and horn grip. Comes with a modern leather scabbard. Length 95 cm. Also a modern jian with a slender blade integrally worked to form a hand guard and an iron pommel in the shape of a mascaron. Rayskin grip. Wooden scabbard with fittings worked en suite, partially covered with rayskin. Length 106 cm.
