A Japanese tanto, circa 1750
Hira tsukuri blade with light torii zori. Hitatsura, extending beyond the edge, hada and boshi plastered. Nakago ubu with a mekugi ana, kiri yasurime. Blade shape ground. Mounts from the late Edo period. Ishime black lacquer saya with sentoku and horn mountings. Fuchi kashira of punched sentoku. Kikugata horn tsuba. Tsuka with crane menukis and shairo-colored silk binding over seed, kozuka missing. K/M 22 cm, total length 43 cm.
