Grand Duchy of Hesse - Order of Louis, Breast Star of the Grand Cross
Convex, eight-pointed, silver star body with a multi-part, partly enameled medallion with the motto of the Order "Gott Ehre Vaterland" on a black background with surrounding oak leaves (chipped). On the reverse a bulbous vertical pin, the medallion (the border somewhat uncleanly worked) with the surrounding maker's mark "Schnitzspahn Darmstadt". Width approx. 80 mm.
