A sabre for officers of the hussars, mid-18th century
Reworked single-edged blade, ground down on the sides, with a flat fuller on both sides, double-edged point, subsequently etched on both sides at the base of the blade, with a crowned coat of arms with a shield in the center and the inscription "Vivat Maria Theresia Regina Hungaria et Bohemia". Brass knuckle-bow hilt, brown leather-covered grip with wire winding and a decorative rosette on each side. Comes with a black leather scabbard (leather rubbed, rough) with a wooden core and brass mountings, the locket riveted to the lower front, two movable suspension rings. Signs of wear and age. Length 94.5 cm.
