A sword of the Academic Legion, circa 1848
Wedge blade with a double-edged central point, half of it richly etched on both sides with trophies, vines and the inscriptions "Für Freiheit und Recht" and "Erinnerung 13. 14. 15. März 1848". One-piece iron cross hilt (somewhat loose) with a cross-grooved octagonal grip and quillons with heart-shaped ends. Signs of use and age. Length 81 cm.
The Academic Legion formed part of the National Guard.
