A helmet M 1881 for members of the US artillery
Stiff skull covered with black wool cloth, richly reliefed, gilded non-ferrous metal mountings. The emblem of the artillery with the eagle and two crossed cannon barrels on the front, applied unit number "4". Fluted screw point on oak leaf base. Two artillery buttons on the side. Manufacturer's imprint "Baker & Mc Kenney New York" on the inside, brown leather sweatband, visors with leather lining. Chin chain missing. Partially slightly damaged, signs of use and age.
