A crest helmet for members of the Baden cavalry, circa 1840 High skull of coarse black leather (two halves, stitched at the crown) with gilt brass mountings (rubbed), attached green backed peak (front seam open). A griffin emblem in fine relief beneath a crown on the front, an "R" in relief on the oval shield. High, screwed comb with black horsehair trim.
