King Ludwig II of Bavaria - a hunting hanger, museum reproduction, 20th century
Heavy single-edged blade, richly decorated on both sides. Hilt of white non-magnetic metal in rich relief with a lion's head pommel and staghorn grip, on the obverse side the applied mirror cipher "L" beneath a crown, shell-guard with a recumbent pair of stags. Black leather scabbard with white mountings decorated en suite, the signature "Johann Stroblberger Carlsthor München" on the locket. Length with scabbard 82 cm. In a wooden case (somewhat bumped, key missing) with glazed lid and metal plaque of the German Hunting and Fishing Museum in Munich, dimensions 94.5 x 26 x 9 cm. Slight signs of use and age.
