Pencil and watercolor on paper. Grenadier on guard duty in uniform with a large bearskin cap, equipped with a sabre and a musket. Framed, behind glass. Dimensions 46 x 31 cm.
Karl Grünwedel (1815 - 1895), German painter and lithographer, worked in Munich from 1830, where he became a member of the Academy of Fine Arts and received several commissions for porcelain paintings from Ludwig II. His works can be found in several Munich collections.
