A sword for Württemberg civil servants, circa 1900
Heavy single-edged blade, richly etched on both sides, the maker's mark "W.K & C" on the obverse side at the root beneath a king's head and knight's helmet, the decorative etchings displaying the crowned antler coat of arms in addition to vines and trophies. Sparsely decorated nickel silver knucklebow hilt (traces of silvering), the royal crown on the obverse side of the guard plate, grip with wire winding. Black leather scabbard (somewhat rubbed, creases) with nickel-silver mountings (minimal dents), a shield-shaped suspension knob on the locket. Comes with a red leather carrying device (occasional cracks) with silver-plated mountings (rubbed). Slightly damaged in places, signs of age. Length 75 cm. Rare.
