Oberleutnant zur See Louis Filter (born 1885) - a photo album, documents and effects from his estate Approx. 190 photos in various formats pasted in, including sailing ship, German officers, East Asia, some photos enclosed loose. In contemporary wine-red album (cover torn lengthwise, some pages detached), dimensions 25 x 33 x 3 cm. Also a small portrait photo in a frame, two envelopes with photos and documents of Filter and family members, four seafaring books by Louis Filter (1901 - 1919). Also a small brown "Album" with handwritten report "Meine erste Reise auf der Herzogin Sophie Charlotte" (cover detached from the book block at the spine, last pages removed). A "Handbuch der Schiffahrts-Kunde", Hamburg 1850. A pair of naval epaulettes (incomplete) and ten gilded anchor buttons of the Imperial Navy as well as a printout of the vita and the rank list entry. Partially damaged, signs of age. Louis Filter began his naval career in 1901 - 1904 on the sailing ship "Herzogin Sophie Charlotte". In 1906 he became 4th officer and traveled East Asia on the "SMS Sachsen" and the "SMS Seydlitz". In 1907 he served as 2nd officer on the "Anchin" (Hong Kong, Bangkok) and finally as 1st officer on the "Chantaboon". He also sailed on the "SS Kaiser Wilhelm der Große", the "SS Neckar", the "SS Frankfurt", the "SS Prinz Eitel Friedrich", etc. He was taken prisoner by the British during the war. Condition: II
