[Jacques] François BLONDEL, Fragmens d'architecture et desseins des croisées qui decorent les façades du Louvre, s.l.n.d.
[Paris, circa 1760].
1 vol. in-folio: 2 f. dedication, 12 f. plates, including one printed on both sides (engraved title and elevation of a crossing) and one folding plate. A dark stain in the lower margin affecting the first 3 leaves.
Stapled copy, modern vat paper cover.
Rare first edition of this particularly original essay dedicated exclusively to the Louvre's crossing windows, in which the author details and sizes the molding profiles of numerous construction elements; the twelve plates are intended to illustrate the main architectural details, in particular the windows of the Louvre, which Louis XV had just decided to complete. Unlike the BAL copy, but in keeping with that of the Millard collection, our work does not bear the publisher's address on the first plate.
