I-XVIII, 4 pl. num. XXXI-XXXIV, 13 pl. (temple de la concorde à Agrigente) num. 1-9 11-14, 17pl. with irregular numbering (edifices de Naples). Moderate brown spots. Bound in contemporary blue-marine half calf. Slight wear to upper cover. Small tears in the paper of the boards. A rare copy of this unfinished book donated by two Grands Prix de Rome ex-aequo in 1819. A stay in Rome was often the occasion for specific monographs, straddling architecture and archaeology. Some plates from this work were exhibited at the Salon of 1827. Callet was subsequently appointed architect to the city of Paris and, in association with Baltard, worked on the new Halles centrales de Paris project, while Lesueur became one of the leading professors at the École des Beaux-Arts.
