Iacomo de Rossi [ca. 1650]. 1 vol. in-folio: Title-frontispiece and 48 plates num. 1-49. Title page a little dusty, otherwise internally in very good condition. Copy rebound in a period binding, full glazed morocco with episcopal coat of arms, very ornate on the boards, previously transformed into a portfolio. A very fine, large illustration of this highly interpretative collection of Roman antiquities, first published in 1624, and one of the most important printed sources on Roman Baroque architecture. The plans of the proposed examples are often highly complex, and the sections-elevations-perspectives present distortions that anticipate the creations of a Borromini.
