Giacomo Barozzi da VIGNOLA, Reigle des cinq ordres d'architecture de M. Jacques Barozzio de Vignole. Paris, Pierre Firens, [ca. 1638]. 1 vol. in-folio: 1f. "au lecteur", 26pl. (lacking pl. 1 (title), 17, 24, 28); 18 various irregularly numbered 17th-century engraved plates added (plan of Saint-Pierre de Rome, 6 sections or elevations of Roman churches, altars, cartouches). Bound in soft full vellum, laces missing. Very good condition despite minor defects. Interleaved work used as a support for graphic exercises: 34 blank leaves bound alternately with the engravings. 12 of these leaves show careful drawings in graphite and sepia pen, relating to architectural orders; on 2 others have been pasted 2 drawings, also from the 17th century, depicting chimneys, in sepia pen, one with highlights in gray wash.
