VILLON Les Oeuvres Paris, Vollard, s.d. (1918). Very large folio, 4 ffnch - 432 pp - 5 ffnch. Illustrated with 240 woodcuts drawn and engraved by Émile Bernard. Bound in full black morocco with mosaic decoration of geometrical motifs in fawn morocco, top edge gilt, counterspreads decorated with gilt and cold fillets, in its protective slipcase (binding signed by the two binders, Léotard & Langrand). Unique edition limited to 254 copies, one of 225 on papier de cuve (ours no. 66). Bernard illustrated this Gothic composition of Villon's poetic works with magnificent woodcuts, at the request of Vollard, who particularly appreciated his line and also entrusted him with the Odyssey and the Petites Fleurs de St. François, a difficult exercise after Maurice Denis's success.
