Gendarmerie pistol M 1842
Smooth bore barrel in 15 mm caliber, acceptance marks and the year "1846" above the powder chamber, stamped "MR" on the pistol base, "M le 1842" on the tang. Intact percussion lock on the back with maker's inscription "Mutzig". Stamped walnut stock with likewise stamped iron furniture. Screws and ramrod are tight. Iron parts darkened, rusty. Length 24.5 cm. Richly stamped example in as found condition.
