Tonkongba dance crest mask with beautiful, clean, stylized forms of great modernism.
This rare crest mask evokes projecting horns and a dolphin's tail, embodying the message from the sea, and owes its shape to this mythical animal that captured boats. The Tonkongba mask appears on important occasions and is a historian's mask, recounting village memories and traditions. This crest mask is one of the Baga people's most sacred creations.
