Cavalry flintlock pistol model An XIII by Manufacture Impériale de St Étienne, 1813.
Cal. 17.6 mm. All metal parts with white polished finish. Smooth, round barrel with thunder flats, dated "B 1813 D" and stamped "P" under star for Antoine PREAU, controller of cannons from 1811 to 1816. The breech tail is unmarked. Lock marked "Manuf. Imp. de St Étienne" and stamped "S" in a rhombus for STELEN, gun controller from 1811 to 1822. Blond walnut stock with short shaft and traces of hallmarks (worn). The brass and steel fittings bear a variety of hallmarks from different manufacturers, including the trigger guard - underguard assembly, hallmarked "F" under a star (?), the mouthpiece and butt cap hallmarked "T" in a crown for François TISSERON, controller of fittings in Charleville from 1775 to 1815. Original nailhead steel ramrod, stamped "2" under crown. Functional mechanism with two clear, play-free cocking notches. Clean inside barrel. Complete.
