Small plate, German-speaking area, early 19th century Earthenware, curved rim, border with butterflies and songbirds in relief on a branch. Copper overprint decoration in the mirror: Englishman, riding on a steaming teapot like a coachman's stand, with the inscription ''Ein reisender Theekessel/ Zum Andenken''. Presumably a satirical reference to the invention of the steam locomotive. Hairline crack. Red border line. D. 16.5 cm.
