Vranyczany, Renée Baroness von. 1879 Rijeka/ Croatia-1955 Munich. Female nude, dancing. Circa 1910. bronze, patinated, signed in the cast, foundry mark A. Valsuani (Cire Perdue), Paris. Marble base. H. 38 and 44.5 cm incl. base. The artist's stations in life were Vienna, where she received her artistic training, Paris (from 1909), where she was in close contact with the Croatian artists Ivan Mèstrovic and Tomuslav Krizman and was represented in exhibitions at the Paris Salon. It was here that she came into contact with the Russian ballet, in particular the dancer Anna Pavlova, which had a strong influence on her further artistic development. Vranyczany had been based in Munich since 1913 and exhibited regularly at Hans Goltz's Galerie Neue Kunst, including with Henri Matisse and Georg Kolbe. She was also involved in the exhibitions of the Munich Artists' Cooperative. Renée Vranyczany was married to August Maurer. Female nude, dancing. Ca. 1910. bronze, cast signature, foundry stamp A.
