TWO STAINED GLASS WINDOWS WITH HINDU DEITIES ON GOLDEN LOTUS PEDESTALS AN EYE FOR DETAIL: PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE ESTATE IN NORTHERN LONDON Possibly Tamil Nadu, Southern India or England made for the Indian export market, late 19th - 20th century Designed as round arch windows, made of unevenly sized, painted and monochrome stained glass segments, featuring two Hindu deities standing on golden lotus pedestals under central polylobed arches edged with lush foliage, representing the God of Victory and War, Kartikeya (also known as Skanda), and the Southern Indian Goddess Meenakshi of Madurai, a form of Parvati, flanked by slender columns, set against an ochre ground of scrolling floral sprays, each window 94cm x 51.5cm.
