AN INDIAN BRASS DUCK-SHAPED CONTAINER AN EYE FOR DETAIL: PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE ESTATE IN NORTHERN LONDON Possibly Deccan or Southern India, 18th century Cast in two parts in the shape of a duck reclining its neck over the body and wings, resting on four rectangular flattened feet with wheels (two now missing) reminiscent of Indian temple toys and devotional icons, the hinged lid and rounded base incised with feather patterns throughout to enhance the naturalistic rendering of the duck's body, approx. 16.2cm x 18.5cm.
