A CARVED EBONY SNUFFBOX WITH VEGETAL MOTIFS AN EYE FOR DETAIL: PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE ESTATE IN NORTHERN LONDON Possibly Coromandel Coast, Southern India, or Sri Lanka, 18th - 19th century Of elongated rectangular shape with an oval profile, the open front fitted with a cusped flap-like lid, reminiscent in shape of portable gunpowder flasks, each side carved with vegetal meanderings on the outer edges, at the back a rosette medallion in the centre, and a stylised floral spray with vegetal scrolls on the lid, 10cm x 5.5cm.
