SIX INDIAN OPENWORK STEEL BUCKLES WITH PEACOCKS AND FLORAL MOTIFS AN EYE FOR DETAIL: PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE ESTATE IN NORTHERN LONDON Punjab and Northern India, 18th and 19th century Comprising a large moulded hexagonal buckle, chased in relief with double pairs of regardant peacocks on the wider sides, interspersed amidst stylised palmettes, 8.3cm x 12cm; other two steel buckles with double pairs of regardant peacocks on the outer profiles, the slightly larger one repeating the pairs of peacock's heads in openwork in the centre, the larger 8.2cm x 10cm, the smaller 6.5cm x 8.5cm; another with a lobed profile on the exterior and two rows of three rosettes of decreasing size, 7.5cm x 11cm; and a near pair of steel buckles with stylised openwork decoration in the centre, the slightly larger 7.4cm x 11cm.
