A TRIBAL ORISSAN BRASS DHOKRA MEASURING BOWL AN EYE FOR DETAIL: PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE ESTATE IN NORTHERN LONDON Orissa (Odisha), Eastern India, 20th century Of deep rounded shape, resting on a circular foot-ring, rising to an inward-curved rim, the incised brass measuring bowl showcasing typical features of tribal North-Eastern Indian dhokra metals with applied wires arranged in fretwork bands and gridwork, with a large human face with pointy nose in the front, the rim replicating a pattern typical of woven reed baskets, 9cm diam. and 8.5cm high.
