A BELL-SHAPED BIDRI SILVER-INLAID HUQQA BASE AN EYE FOR DETAIL: PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE ESTATE IN NORTHERN LONDON Bidar, Deccan, Central India, 19th century Of typical flared bell-like shape, resting on a wide circular base, rising to narrow shoulders and a gently flared cylindrical neck with a splayed outer ring, the exterior clad in traditional Bidri silver inlay featuring a wide decorative band with lobed arches in-filled with a lush floral bloom of roses, marigolds and foliage, set against a chequered ground, a similar composition decorating the neck, the rest of the body decorated with overlapping horizontal bands alternating scrolling floral and pointy leaf meanderings, the base 18cm diam., the huqqa 19.5cm high.
