TWO INDIAN STEEL SUFI CRUTCHES WITH ANIMAL HEADS AN EYE FOR DETAIL: PROPERTY FROM A PRIVATE ESTATE IN NORTHERN LONDON Possibly Deccan or Northern India, 19th century Comprising a typical T-shaped crutch or armrest staff, usually associated with mystics, Sufis, and ascetics, with a bent and upward-curved handle, the handle's terminals and the base designed in the shape of stylised dragon or makara heads, 41.5cm high; and another similar, with a tapering, coiled shaft, the curved handle's terminals with bird heads, 49cm high.
