A PAIR OF KASHMIRI CHAMPLEVÉ ENAMELLED BRASS VASES WITH PAIRS OF DRAGON HEADS AND LIONS Kashmir, North India, late 19th century Each of typical urn-like shape, resting on a short splayed circular foot, rising to broader, curved shoulders, and a flared neck with a widely everted rim, attached to the rim and shoulders curved dragon or makara head handles surmounted by pairs of lions (one missing), the exterior chased with traditional Kashmiri intertwined split palmette trellis and stylised lotus flowers, and enamelled in cobalt blue and turquoise, around the shoulders and feet stylised epigraphic bands featuring lyrical content in free-flowing nasta'liq script, each 41.7cm high.
