A LARGE INDIAN BRASS EWER WITH DRAGON HANDLE AND MAKARA SPOUT Deccan, Central India, 18th century Of bulbous shape, resting on a tall, splayed, circular foot, rising to narrow, sloping shoulders, with a cylindrical neck surmounted by a dome-like hinged lid with faceted spiky finial, on the sides a S-shaped dragon handle and an upward-curved, faceted spout with a makara head, the exterior incised with clusters of plain, concentric lines repeating from the lid down to the foot, the shape and plain decorative programme in line with mid-17th and 18th-century ewers attributed to the Deccan plateau, 35.5cm high.
