A FINE GOLD-DAMASCENED (KOFTGARI) INDIAN STEEL KARD DAGGER India, 19th century With a sharp single-edged crucified steel blade, with a thicker tip, the steel hilt enhanced with gold-damascened decorative bands with rosettes and fleshy foliage running around the central tang and forte, the flattened pommel with a curved profile featuring gold beaded bands on the edges, and a hinged gold-damascened decorative flap in the centre, the design and style reminiscent of Persian Safavid models, the size and gold-damascening technique pointing instead towards an Indian attribution, 36cm long.
