AN ENGRAVED BRASS MINIATURE ASTROLABE Qajar Iran, second half 19th century Of typical circular shape, comprising three plates and an openwork grid with a ruler, the base densely engraved with four concentric bands of Arabic inscriptions to the interior and five to the exterior, the cusp engraved with symmetrical vegetal trellis, 5.5cm diam. and 7.5cm high.
