TWO MANUSCRIPTS: A PERSIAN ILLUSTRATED 'MIRROR FOR PRINCES' AND ARABIC RITUAL PRAYERS Qajar Iran and Ottoman Turkey or Iraq, the first dated 1247 AH (1831 AD) and the latter 1105 AH (1693 - 94 AD) Comprising a Persian manuscript on lined watermarked paper, 198ff., no fly-leaves, with 12ll. to the page of black ink nasta'liq script, a Qajar manuscript with scenes drawn from the literary epics and 'mirror for princes' genre, catchwords, titles and important sections in red, with 11 illustrated pages in a naïve provincial Qajar style, set within red rules, in a dark red calf leather binding (missing the front cover), the text panel 11cm x 7cm, the page 15.5cm x 9.5cm; and an Arabic manuscript on lined paper, 184ff., 5 fly-leaves, with 21ll. to the page of black ink naskh script, with marginal notes and highlights in red, a thorough guidebook on Islamic ritual practices and prayers including specific steps and circumstances to carry out purification (wudu etc), signed by Hajj Mustapha Bin Abdel Nabi and dated 1105 AH, set within red rules, the text panel 14.5cm x 7.5cm, the page 18.5cm x 13.5cm.
