A REVERSE GLASS PAINTING OF THE IRANIAN HERO RUSTAM SLAYING THE WHITE DIV China made for the Indian or Iranian export markets, 19th century Opaque pigments, polychrome enamels, white wash, silver, and gold on glass, the vertical-format composition depicting a beloved Persian lyrical topos of the great Shahnamah epic, the hero Rustam slaying the spotted White Div, the demon already portrayed in a defeated stance without one arm and falling to the ground, the hero wearing his typical attire, a white snow leopard coat and helmet, slaying the opponent with a bull-headed mace, set against a natural hilly background, the back of the frame with a handwritten sticky note stating 'King fighting with demon or killer of men 150 years old', framed, 56.5cm x 42cm including the frame.
