Rectangular coffee table in rosewood veneer with geometric motifs in reserves. It stands on 4 cambered legs. The top is finely inlaid with a bouquet of flowers surrounded by finets. It opens to 2 drawers without crossbar in the front and a side drawer. Ornamented with chased and gilded bronze falls and foliage sabots, frames and gallery. Stamped WASSMUS under the writing tablet. Transitional Louis XV-Louis XVI style Height: 74; Width: 56; Depth: 40 cm Henri Léonard Wassmus or Weissmusc was a talented 19th-century cabinetmaker from a family of renowned cabinetmakers. He was an excellent draughtsman and produced stylish furniture, mainly copies of the finest 17th- and 18th-century pieces. He was a supplier to Napoleon III's Mobilier Impérial. The Louis XVI-style commodes furnishing the Hôtel de Marigny in Paris are by Henri-Léonard Wassmus, and come from the Prince Impérial's bedroom at the Palais de l'Elysée.
