Statuette in molded plaster with patina representing Athena Giustiniani.
Total height: 105 cm.
Wear and tear.
Note: The marble model, created around the 5th and 4th centuries B.C., is 225 cm high. Discovered in the 17th century, the Athena entered the collection of Marquis Vincenzo Giustiniani (1564-1637). Acquired by Prince Lucien Bonaparte in 1805 and then placed in the Palazzo Núñez-Torlonia in Rome, the marble changed ownership once again. In 1817, Pope Pius VII acquired the sculpture and installed it in his new Vatican Museum, where it can be admired today (inv. 2223).
