42. Henri de TOULOUSE-LAUTREC (1864-1901) The Crocodile, Menu. 1896 Lithograph on vellum used to illustrate a menu. Very rare proof of the first state from an edition number of copies with the text of the dinner menu December 23, 1896 printed at the bottom (incomplete). Toulouse-Lautrec's monogram printed on the lower of the figure of the artist drawing. The figures depicted are : Tapié de Céleyran, Maurice Guibert kidnapping Guibert's mistress, Joyant and Toulouse - Lautrec on his folder. Leaf cut to size: 37 x 26.3cm. Subject: 32.3 x 22.6 cm. Framed. (Wittrock 175 I/II, Delteil 200) (The print is yellowed, pasted, with trace of passepartout, slight break at the bottom, tiny removals, cuts, on surface).
