A pair of Louis XV carved walnut fauteuils a la reine, attributed to Pierre Nogaret
This pair of armchairs is characteristic both in technique and style of the production of Lyon's best-known carpenter: Pierre Nogaret (1718-1771). The walnut is natural and simply waxed, the moldings sinuous, strongly marked and nicely softened by the use of naturalistic flowers. The wide-open, highly curved arm brackets are the master's trademark. Always of the highest quality, his work enabled him to rival the best craftsmen in the capital.
