Muhammad ben Abd El-Wahhab, or Ibn Abdelwahhab (1703 - 1792), was a Muslim scholar and preacher from the Banu Tamim Arab tribe, who advocated a return to the original Islam. While his supporters regard him as one of the leading revifiers of authentic Islam, his detractors see him as the founder of the rigorist doctrine known as "Wahhabism".
