Account of the pilgrimage to Mecca by the Tunisian sheik Mahmud Al Baji, testimony to the evolution of the pilgrimage in the 1950s, which was no longer carried out exclusively by boat, but also by plane. Story followed by manasik. Mahmud Al Baji (1906-1987) was a Tunisian magistrate and man of letters. Graduating with the highest certificate from the University of the Al Zitouna Mosque in Tunis in 1927, he chose a career in the judiciary in 1932 despite unfavorable advice from the Protectorate authorities, who saw him as an adversary. He made a name for himself through his writings in theology and poetry, for which he won numerous prizes.
